Sign up for garden waste collections

This optional, paid for service, runs from March to November each year. You can choose to sign up each year.

How much it costs

This service costs £40 a year for each bin permit, or £20 if you get means-tested Council Tax Reduction. You can pay for more bin permits if you think you'll need extra. We'll send you a new brown bin to go with each permit you order. You need to stick your permit to the back of your bin, under the handles.

When it starts

Collections started in March 2025. You can sign up for the service until 30 September.

How we'll collect your garden waste

We'll collect your garden waste bin every two weeks, in the same way we collect your rubbish and recycling bins from the kerbside. When you have your new bin and permit you can check when your bins will be collected.

What we'll collect in your garden waste bin

Put the garden waste directly into the bin. Do not put it in a plastic bag as this contaminates the recycling and we will not collect it.

We'll collect:

  • flowers
  • plants
  • weeds
  • grass cuttings
  • leaves
  • hedge cuttings
  • twigs, small branches
  • bark, as long as it's untreated and not coloured

We will not collect your bin if it contains:

  • stone
  • rubble
  • soil
  • turf
  • animal waste
  • animal bedding
  • edging
  • plant pots
  • trees
  • large branches
  • invasive non-native species, like Japanese knotweed
  • any other non-garden waste
