Find out how to arrange a funeral, burial or cremation.
We need a certificate of registration of death (form 14) for a burial to take place. A death must be registered to get this form. The funeral director will help you get a copy of this from the registrar.
Burial lairs, also known as grave plots, are usually purchased at the time of interment We have a scheme which lets you buy a burial lair in advance. The burial lair location is not allocated until the time of burial. This scheme is not available in every cemetery within Dumfries and Galloway. For further information contact our burial team.
If the deceased, or the person buying the burial lair, did not live in the Dumfries and Galloway Council area the non-resident fee applies.
