Courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
If you or someone you know wants to learn English, we have both online and in-person ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes available.
What happens next
You will be invited to an ESOL assessment where we will confirm your level of English.
We will test your skills in:
- reading
- writing
- speaking
- listening
This helps us confirm your level of English so that we can can find the best class for you:
- beginner level learners will be invited to classes with Lifelong Learning
- level 2 and above will be invited to attend learning with Dumfries and Galloway College
Due to the increasing demand, it may take several weeks to receive an invite to be assessed.

ENIC - recognition of international qualifications
We work in partnership with The Bridges Programmes to support learners to gain a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC (European Network of Information Centres).
The UK ENIC is a national agency for international qualifications and skills. This service is for you if you need to evidence the level of your overseas qualification for:
- employment
- study
- professional registration
How we can help you through the ENIC process
We can support you through the ENIC process. You will require a copy of your secondary certificates or university certificates.
As part of the service your documents will be translated.
