The Scottish Milk and Health Snack Scheme (SMHSS) supports improvements in children's health in the earliest years. This is crucial in tackling health inequalities.
Any child aged 5 years and under who attends a registered setting for 2 hours or more a day is entitled to receive milk and a healthy snack, such as a piece of fruit for free.
For more on the details of what must be provided, go to Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme: statutory guidance – Scottish Government.

SMHSS funding and payments
We will confirm payment arrangements with you. SMHSS funding must only be used for the scheme.
Families should not be charged for a benefit which has been funded via the scheme.
If your childcare setting is no longer entitled to a payment under the scheme, due to a change in circumstances, you must tell us as soon as possible.
