What goes in your non-recyclable waste bin or sacks
You should only put waste in your non-recyclable bin or sacks if it cannot go in one of your recycling bins and cannot be reused or taken to a recycling centre.
Check what goes in each of your bins or sacks
What must not go in this bin:
- any item that can be recycled using the recycling service or at local recycling points
- batteries - these can be taken to a recycling centre or a local battery recycling bin
- e-cigarettes and vaping gear - take them back to the shop you bought them from, or take them to a recycling centre
- small electricals - many local shops will recycle these for you and some will recycle them if you buy a new similar item from them, or you can find a local recycling point or take them to a recycling centre
- large electricals - many shops will recycle these if you buy a new similar item from them
- glass - this should be taken to a recycling centre or recycling point
- compressed gas canisters - these should be returned to the supplier or shop you bought them from for refilling or recycling, or take them to a recycling centre
- helium cannisters - these should be returned to the supplier, do not take them to a recycling centre
- rubble - this should be taken to a recycling centre if it's from your DIY waste, but if you have builders working at your home, they are responsible for getting rid of all their waste
