Apply for empty property Council Tax discounts
Find out what discounts, reductions or exemptions you may be able to get to reduce your Council Tax bill for an unoccupied property or purpose-built holiday home.
Unoccupied unfurnished property (except for fixtures and fittings)
You could get:
- A 100% discount, for up to 6 months, if the property becomes empty after it was occupied as a sole or main home for at least 3 months.
- A 50% discount, for a further 6 months, if the property is still empty after 6 months, but you'll have to pay any water and sewerage charges due.
