The holiday programme is designed to provide something for everyone, and includes sports activities, music initiatives, art projects, fun days, and trips – as well as drop-in sessions providing free activities and a safe space for young people to hang out with friends.

In addition, the Youth Work Service is offering free events for Primary 7 pupils that are moving to high school after the summer. The social transition sessions, that will be held in all secondary schools in the region is an opportunity for young people to get to know each other, have fun and alleviate any worries or concerns about their transition from primary to secondary.

With activities running across the region, young people will have plenty of opportunities to try something new, meet friends, and stay active over the holidays. Food and refreshments will be provided at every session, and young people can access support from the Youth Work Service at any point during the holidays.

Many sessions are open for drop-in attendance, while some require pre-booking. Full details are available at: https://www.dumfriesandgalloway.gov.uk/youthwork

Councillor Maureen Johnstone, Chair of the Council’s Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Committee, said:

"This Easter, we’re delighted to offer such a fantastic variety of activities for young people across Dumfries and Galloway. Whether they’re interested in sport, creativity, or just having fun with friends, there is something for everyone. We encourage young people to come along, take part, and make the most of these brilliant opportunities."

Councillor Lynne Davies, Vice Chair, added:

"We know how important it is to give young people somewhere to go and something to do during the holidays. Our Easter programme provides safe, welcoming spaces where they can have fun, learn new skills, and connect with others. It’s a great way to support young people and their wellbeing during the school break."
