The Solway Coast and Marine Project's (SCAMP) Wild Winter programme has concluded after engaging more than 400 local people in a journey of coastal discovery that stretched from Annan to Stranraer.

As the warmer months approach, the risk of wildfires increases, posing a significant threat to our beautiful landscapes, wildlife, and communities in Dumfries and Galloway. Wildfires are very dangerous, spread fast, change direction - and jump to and from other areas, potentially threatening life.

Dumfries and Galloway Council has started a series of non-intrusive environmental surveys. The surveys will give us important information about local conditions, including plant and animal species living near the river.

The Solway Coast and Marine Project (SCAMP) is inviting local people to book their places in the final events of its highly successful Wild Winter programme, which has so far seen more than 400 people across Dumfries and Galloway enjoy public events and school activities connected with the region's unique coastal environments.
