Local Place Plans focus on how local land is used and developed and can help you and your local community have a say in planning policy and decisions.
To help your community understand the various steps required in preparing a Local Place Plan, we have produced some guidance documents.
These toolkits and templates will be kept up to date as we learn more from those communities preparing Local Place Plans.
Localised data profiles have been prepared as part of the work to support development of an updated Local Outcome Improvement Plan for Dumfries and Galloway. They provide data profiles for Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Partnership areas.
If you are unsure whether your group qualifies as a community-controlled body, you can discuss it with your Local Place Team, after you submit an expression of interest form.

Submit an expression of interest for a Local Place Plan
After we receive your form, someone will arrange a suitable time for your group to speak to someone about Local Place Plans.
If your community wants the council to consider your Local Place Plan when making Local Development Plan 3, the deadline to show interest has already passed. To give the council enough time to include Local Place Plans, they need to be registered or ready to be registered by July 2025.
If that is not important to your local community, there is no deadline for expressing an interest or completing your Local Place Plan.
