The role of the lead professional
If several professionals from different services are involved, one of them will become the lead professional.
They will:
- make sure everyone is clear about what is happening
- arrange meetings and discussions to develop your child's plan
- check on progress and make sure you and your child have all the information you need
- make sure that you understand what is happening
- make sure that everyone involved listens to your views and takes them seriously
They will be the person who has the most knowledge and experience to co-ordinate your child's plan. You and your child will be fully involved in any decision about who they are.
Case study – Ryan's story
Ryan's story is a case study which will help you understand what getting it right for every child is all about.
Ryan tells how his school and the police work together to make sure that he is safe, healthy and included. It's about how relatively small changes make a big difference for the whole family.
