Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council members

Dumfries and Galloway Youth Council is an organisation for and by young people. 

35 young people are elected to represent their local communities or communities of interest every 2 years. The youth member's role is to champion the rights of all young people throughout Dumfries and Galloway to local and national decision makers. 

The Youth Council is made up of nominated and ward youth councillors and members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Dumfries and Galloway youth council elections 2023 to 2025

Elections took place between Wednesday 22 November to Saturday 2 December 2023.

The results were announced on Tuesday 5 December at the Oasis Youth Centre and can be watched on our YouTube channel @YouthCouncilDG

Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament

The following young people have been elected to represent Dumfries and Galloway in the Scottish Youth Parliament. Each Scottish parliamentary constituency has two Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) who are elected to represent the voices of young people aged 12 to 25 on a national level.

Nominated youth councillors

Nominated youth councillors have a regional role and are responsible for representing the voices of young people who are seldom heard in decision making.

Ward youth councillors

The following young people have been duly elected as ward youth councillors with each of the regions 12 ward areas having two representatives elected. Ward youth councillors are responsible for engaging with, and representing young people who live, work and study in their local community.
