We'll make a full assessment and normally try to assist you to remain at home.
We can work with you to find the best solutions to meet your needs and provide advice if we agree together that staying at home is not possible.
Choosing a care home
There are lots of things to consider when you're choosing a home, such as:
- location
- contracts and fees
- availability
- accommodation
Start by:
- searching our care home directory
- visiting care homes in your area
- checking Care Inspectorate inspection reports
- speaking to family, friends, your GP or health visitor

Paying for a care home
Care home fees in Dumfries and Galloway can range from £825.94 to £1,522.81 a week.
You will be expected to pay towards their fees but financial support may be available depending on your individual circumstances.
If you are looking for support from us then we'll carry out a financial assessment. We will work out whether you're able to contribute to the cost of your care and support package as well as how much you need to contribute.
The assessments look at a number of important elements, including:
- income – such as benefits and pensions
- outgoings – such as mortgage payments, rent payments and Council Tax payments
- capital – such as savings, bonds and stocks
You'll need to pay the full cost of your care and support package if:
- you're self-funding
- come through us but do not want to provide financial information
- you have significant savings and investments
