Justice social work

What is justice social work, community sentences, including bail supervision and Community Payback Orders, the Caledonian System.

Justice social work

Justice social work is a field of social work that aims to:

  • reduce reoffending
  • protect the public
  • help people involved in the criminal justice system
  • promote partnership working, between us and the third sector and independent organisations

It is governed by national legislation and justice legislation – Scottish Government.

Community justice partnership

We work together with the local community justice partnership. We work:

  • to prevent and reduce further offending by addressing its underlying causes
  • together to help safely and effectively manage and support those who have committed offences  – this helps to enable them to reintegrate effectively into their community and realise their potential
