If the dog is causing an immediate threat to someone, call the police on 999.
After your report
Our animal health and welfare officers may give the owner a dog control notice that lists what they have to do to keep their dog under control.
A dog control notice will list a variety of things the owner must do, for example:
- muzzling
- keeping the dog on lead
- neutering
- attending dog training classes
- specified walking routes and walking times
- avoiding certain areas
- any other steps the animal health and welfare officer says are needed
It is a criminal offence to fail to comply with a dog control notice.
