Roles that require training
Our priority is making sure we are supporting and providing opportunities and safe spaces for young people across the region. As a result we are not able to support people into volunteering if they are unable to complete the relevant training and information sessions.
For our volunteer programmes, the training aspect will vary depending on the role you would like to do with the minimum time required for training being four hours. The training is used to make you aware of:
- what's expected of the role
- the support that will be provided to you as a volunteer
- the code of conduct
The training also gives you the chance to meet with the people you’ll be volunteering alongside.
If you want to volunteer at Youth Beatz
If you only want to volunteer at Youth Beatz, then keep an eye on social media for our Youth Beatz volunteering expression of interest form.
Using your volunteering hours towards awards
We’re happy to provide documentation of your contributions for Saltire Awards or Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE).
If you don’t know what Saltire or DofE is, we can discuss this at the meeting with the volunteer co-ordinator- they are both ways of getting extra benefit from your volunteering.
Volunteering with family
If a family member works for us, you could volunteer with them. This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
We advise that you do no volunteer at groups that your child attends. This is to allow them the independence to attend a group with their peers in the same way as other young people would. This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
